Tiz Nobler to Take the Jerome Favorite
High-profile 3 year old racing shifts north to Aqueduct today with the Grade 2 Jerome at a mile and70 yards in which the early line favorite Noble Moon (6-5) will be a very tough out.
The colt has had two start, breaking maiden at 6 furlongs wire to wire over a surface that was biased in favor of speed. Following the debut, Leah Gyarmati treated the colt like a good horse, wheeling him back in six weeks in the G2 Nashua going a mile on the Aqueduct main track.
It's not because the horse acquitted himself very well while moving up in class and distance but the way in which he finished third to Cairo Prince, a highly regarded McLaughlin runner that lost a head-bobber to the ultra talented Honor Code by a nose in the 9-furlong Remsen.
It takes a talented runner that can change his style without benefit of experience, which is what he did, finishing strongly late after breaking last of 12 and forced to rally 6-wide into the lane bind a colt that blew the race open soon after entering the straight. SO he has speed, the ability to finish, a two-sided distance pedigree, picks up Irad and draws the pole with a short run into the first turn. A sharp start should do it.
Taking Noble Moon to win, no price restrictions, and key boxing him in exactas with talented, fast working maiden Scotland (7-2) and the speedy, experienced Classic Giacnroll (5-1).
