Three-Year-Old Champ Takes Charge of the Donn

Today's Gulfstream Park feature, the Grade 1 Donn Handicap, has been on everyone's radar since the championship-meet portion of the stand began in January and, as it turns out, America can watch it if they want.

I would consider betting any of these four horses to win: Will Take Charge (9-5), Revolutionary (5-1), Romansh (6-1) and Lea (10-1).

We're taking the champion, WTC, on a Horse of the Year mission that begins with the most important G1 for older horses this year. Don't fall into the trap of believing he will be a short horse.

After winning the G1 Clark on Nov. 29, he's worked seven times after being given a very brief freshening of 19 days. The works include a best of 105 five-eighths, a 2 of 46 five-eighths thereafter, then, believe it or not a six furlong gate work in 1:14.80, followed by a seventh best of 77 half-mile blowout in the slop.

He's ready, and there should be a good pace on over the speed-favoring strip.

Taking Will Take Charge, at early line odds or greater, and key-boxing in exactas with his rival here.
