That’s My Girl
Today’s Gulfstream Park feature, the Ladies Turf Sprint Stakes, has attracted a gate full of eclectic runners, from here, there and anywhere at all in the 10th race.
The early line favorite, Broken Dreams (5-2), has it all, company lines, excellent figures on the Equiform scale, and top turf connections in trainer Tom Proctor and rider Jose “Big ‘Cap” Lezcano—a worthy early favorite indeed.
Then comes the extremely prolific 8-year-old old pro Suzzona, shipping south for a barn that’s a profitable 25% in that scenario with Julien Pimentel along for the ride. An amazing 18-time winner at the distance, it probably the extended layup that chased the linemaker away (10-1).
But we believe that, her highweight assignment notwithstanding, Jenny’s So Great (8-1) will prove the most reliable given the race shape, post, and the presence of the underrated Joe Rocco Jr.
‘Jenny’s figures are competitive on her best go and hails from a barn that’s profitable with all its turf runners and excels in turnback scenarios, the case here. There’s plenty of pace to set the table and her outside slip almost insures the rider will attempt a bold finish in the clear from the center of the course.
Taking Jenny’s So Great to win at 6-1 or greater and key boxing her first and second with her main rivals here.
