Get the Bling in GP Feature

Today’s featured 9th race at Gulfstream Park is a good one; from an entertainment standpoint and with an opportunity to find true value. No search warrants necessary to find the favorites: The early line choice is Gentlemans Code (3-1), coming off an extensive layoff. Since it’s coming from Wesley Ward’s barn, that’s not a concern.

Considering, too, it’s been toughened in stakes, broke his maiden on turf in Europe, was last seen in a race that produced four next-out winners, and is being handled by underrated stable rider Jeffrey Sanchez, he’s going to be a tough out.

As is Faretti (4-1), a good-figure first-out maiden winner under identical conditions here five weeks ago. The turf speedster goes for Team Clement/Castellano.

But it’s Blings Express (8-1) that’s intriguing. We generally don’t take first-time turfers against proven surface winners with good Equiform figures. The gray colt earned both those lifetime wins at today’s trip, the wins coming over Tapeta at Presque Isle Downs.

We look for that form to translate to turf for a barn that’s profitable with first-time grass runners and is a worthy 19% efficient in third start off-the-layoff scenarios.

Castellano switches to Clement’s horse which should add to the price potential, but it does get Paco and an inside post. He ran as fast on the Equiform scale at 2 than his competition has at 3.

Taking Blings Express to win at 6-1 or greater and key boxing him first and second with his two rivals here.

Running Totals: (1037) 321-203-149 Total Dollar Return: $2,222.40 [win selections only]
