The Oaklawn Incident

In terms of quality and quantity, today's Rebel Stakes has it all. Realistically, it's hard to look past the three favorites, even if the 3-2 favorite breaks from the extreme outside in a field of 11, and if the 7-2 second favorite has not stepped foot on a racetrack this year, and even if the third choice is unlikely to be much higher than his 4-1 early line because he gets a favorable rider switch.

It' going to be a beauty and we're taking Oxbow (4-1) in an upset, even though favorite Super Ninety Nine and second choice Delhomme have run faster on the Equiform scale--and the latter did it as a 2-year-old.

But we're hoping that the Lukas trainee will sit a trip beneath Mike Smith, providing he takes advantage of his mount's tactical speed. Smith has been a little uneven in recent forays east of SoCal.

Taking Oxbow to win at 3-1 or greater and key-boxing him first and second in the multiples with his rivals here.
