Hot, Hot, Hot

If there’s n outfit on the grounds at Belmont that’s hotter than Asmussen’s, I don’t know who that can be. If there’s a jockey hotter than Corey Nakatani, the same question applies.

And who could be a hotter filly than Diamonds And Dust (1-1) right now?

Yes, I realize she’s coming off a big lifetime double top on the Equiform scale, but that was as her first start as a three-year-old following a barn change.

Factor in a pace she can dominate, an outside draw in a small field and sufficient spacing, I don’t know how to go past her.

Taking Diamonds And Dust to win, no price restrictions, and key boxing her in exactas with Cinco De Mayo Mio (8-1), coming off a New Pace Top and switch to Dominguez, and Taconic Victory (5-1), a 6-½ furlong specialist.

Running Totals: (947) 294-191-135 Total Dollar Return: $2,025.10 [win selections only]

A Star in the Making

Seems crazy to take a position against a Bill Mott trainee given the kind of year he’s having, or the notion of a short price on a horses doing what it’s never done for the first time. But I think we can make an exception here.

Star Torina (2-1) has never run on dirt but with the exception of E Z Passer (5-2), she is superior to the group on the Equiform scale--and in that filly’s case, her latest figure represents a career top. And it’s not like she won’t be heavily backed either.

Why should Star Torina excel on the main track? She’s a daughter of A. P. Indy from a Mr. Prospector mare. Doesn’t that sound like she can run on anything? Certainly does to me.

We’re taking Star Torina to win at 8-5 or greater and key boxing her in exactas with E Z Passer and price shot American Angel (12-1), incrementally improving her figures with each start and learning to distribute her energy more efficiently.

Running Totals: (946) 294-191-135 Total Dollar Return: $2,025.10 [win selections only]

Ruthenia to Enjoy Lively Pace and Return to Belmont Park

Ruthenia (7-2) was severely compromised by a moderate pace in her Saratoga finale now returns to her favorite course, one over which she earned her lifetime best Equiform figure and won two of three starts. The Clement barn is firing on all cylinders since leaving Saratoga and should rn down this talented grouup of three year old fillies in the final stages.

Taking Ruthenia to win at 5-2 or greater and key boxing her in muliples with distance loving My Redbyrd (10-1), course loving Divalarious (6-1) and worthy favorite Elusive Pearl (3-1).

Running Totals: (944) 294-191-135 Total Dollar Return: $2,025.10 [win selections only] {Sunday results not included}
