Either It’s Red or Blue

Today's Riskaverse for 3-year-old fillies going a mile on turf looks competitive on paper but we don't think it will be in the end when Partisan Politics (5-2) comes flying through the stretch.

She loves this course, has an explosive Thoro-Graph pattern, has enough speed up front to set up her kick and the team of Brown and Castellano is, well, formidable. Third off the layoff, nicely posted, and on and on...

Taking Partisan Politics to win, no price restrictions, key-boxing her with Bugle (8-1) and Stormy Regatta (6-1) and adding Lola Beaux (15-1) to the super-exotics mix.

Number of Selections since 2007: 1811

Number of Win and Place Finishes: 546-344

Amount Wagered: $3,622 [$2 to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $3,747.60

Profit to Date: $125.60

Excitable Calm

The feature isn’t legendary but they horse it was named for, John’s Call, sure was. Appropriately, it’s a grass event going 13 furlongs for older horses.

Todd Pletcher has the logical favorite in Global Strike (9-5), in top form and in receipt of five pounds from most of the major contenders. Still, we’ll seek value here.

Morning Calm (5-1) was ambitiously placed in a Grade 2 by Michelle Nihei in his first start off a freshening.

But now he’s back in listed stakes company, owns a win on this course and Junior Alvarado, who made early use of his mount last out, is back to make amends in a more favorable spot.

Taking Morning Calm to win at 4-1 or greater, an exacta box with Global Strike and using Holiday Star in the super-exotics.

Number of Selections since 2007: 1810

Number of Win and Place Finishes: 546-344

Amount Wagered: $3,620 [$2 to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $3,747.60

Profit to Date: $127.60

Tiz So Honest

Tricky, trappy feature today’s Spa two-turner in which the demonstrated speed might not be in this case. Still we can’t get too fancy since alternatives are many in this small group.

Tiz So Sweet (9-5) was cut out to be a good one and when she makes it to the races, she’s pretty darn good.

Four year old filly is 3-for-5 lifetime, has pole position, blew out sharply since her recent win and Bill Mott is 26% effective with repeaters.

Taking Tiz So Sweet to win, no price restrictions, boxing the exacta with Montana Native (7-2), and adding Samantha Nicole to the exotics mix.

Number of Selections since 2007: 1809

Number of Win and Place Finishes: 546-343

Amount Wagered: $3,618 [$2 to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $3,747.60

Profit to Date: $129.60
