All in on Tahoe Tigress

Today's feature at the Spa is the Saratoga Dew and it appears Tahoe Tigress (2-1) has too many tools.

Improved for Jeremiah Englehart, she earns excellent energy figures consistently, she's bred to be at her best at today's two turns, and Jse Ortiz seems to hold the key, having won five of his six rides on the mare.

Taking Tahoe Tigress to win, no price restrictions, and an exacta box with Royal Suspicion (8-1)

Number of Selections since 2007: 1589

Number of Win-Place-Show Finishers: 484-308-244

Amount Wagered: $3,178 [to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $3,272.00

Turf or Dirt, Favorites Rule Spa Feature

Wednesday's feature is the Troy Stakes, scheduled for 5-1/2 furlongs on the turf. With heavy predicted for a sustained period Tuesday night and Wednesday, it's likely the race will be run on the main track.

Can't beat the favorite on either surface; Tightend Touchdown on turf; Dads Caps on dirt. In either case, we'll try to complete the exacta with Spring to the Sky.

Late addition: Will also box Golden Rifle (5-1) with TT due to course condition rated as "good"

Number of Selections since 2007: 1588

Number of Win-Place-Show Finishers: 484-307-244

Amount Wagered: $3,176 [to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $3,272.00

Profit to Date: $96.00

Can’t Walk Passed Clement’s Undefeated Filly

Man, these turf stakes have been head-scratchers up here and here comes the Tenski for good measure.

After some deliberation, trying to make a couple of price horses, I couldn't help to get back to the favorite, Walk Close (5-2).

It's not because she's undefeated, which she is, but because in the Wild Applause downstate, she had no pace in front of her and still went and wore done her rivals with a powerful late burst.

Two of her three wins have come at today's trip--albeit this one is around two turns--and Christophe Clement has cooled off some after a sensational Belmont stand, but Irad Ortiz? I'm running out of superlatives. He is riding with extreme confidence these days, making the right decisions, then timing many of his stakes wins just right.

Given the competition, I will need 2-1 or better on Walk Close to win, and will key-box her in the exacta with Courageous Julie (15-1) and adding the uncoupled Chad pair to the super-exotics mix; Hillhouse High (4-1) and Sweet Acclaim (3-1).

Number of Selections since 2007: 1587

Number of Win-Place-Show Finishers: 484-307-244

Amount Wagered: $3,174 [to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $3,272.00

Profit to Date: $98.00
