Taking Bondurant to Steal Makers Mark From the Speed

The Keeneland meet is really outdoing itself in 2017 as the G1 Makers Mark Mile, always a competitively classy championship making event, came up big again.

There's no shortage of speed given the trip, as one would expect, and we think this renewal sets up nicely for late running Bondurant (10-1).

Making his start start off the layup for Ian Wilkes, he returns to his favorite course, loves the trip and exits the Gulf's Canadian Turf that already has produced two next-out winners. Though post? Yes, but that should help insure fair odds.

Taking Bondurant to win at 6-1 or greater and key boxing exactas with two speedsters; Heart to Heart (3-1) and SoCal-fast What a View (5-1).

Number of Selections since 2007: 2280

Number of Win and Place Finishes: 689-450

Amount Wagered: $4,560 [$2 to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $4,684.90

Exacta Finishes All Selections since 2007: .499%

Profit to Date:
$124.90

Shading Casse’s Pair in Unbelievably Deep G3 Appalachian

At this time of year, my excitement level is usually peaked by the Triple Crown trail. However, today's Keeneland feature, the G3 Appalachian for 3YO turf fillies, has my blood boiling. Wow!

One after another, the first six fillies by post position, can all win. And any race where Lull is 12-1 on the early line, you know it has to be loaded. We're sticking with Mark Casse's pair. In fact, they might go 1-2!

We're going to shake La Coronel (7-2), coming off a good prep at Tampa Bay, because of her 1-1 record on the local course. But, who knows, mate Dream Dancing (4-1) could prove the best filly by season's end.

Either way, taking La Coronel to win at 3-1 or greater, exacta -key-boxes with her stablemate and Chad returnee New Money Honey (4-1), winner of the BG Juv Turf, and adding Coasted (9-2), Bellavais (15-1) and Proctor's Ledge (8-1) to the super-exotics mix.

Number of Selections since 2007: 2279

Number of Win and Place Finishes: 688-450

Amount Wagered: $4,558 [$2 to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $4,675.50

Exacta Finishes All Selections since 2007: .499%

Profit to Date:
$117.50

Hopefully We’ll Commend Bill Mott on a Job Well Done

Today's mile turf feature at Keeneland appears to be a battle of two pace horses on the turf, making this a tough call given those dynamics.

We'll shade Commend (3-1), who is a bit more accomplished but drawn wide, vs. Alasaal (5-2), razor sharp and drawn inside with Bravo.

Taking Commend to win at 7-2 or greater, an exacta box with the favorite, and adding Morse Code (8-1) to the super-exotics mix.

Number of Selections since 2007: 2278

Number of Win and Place Finishes: 688-450

Amount Wagered: $4,556 [$2 to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $4,675.50
