Doing It The Chief’s Way, or Gambling in the Poker

If there's a trainer that's hotter right now than Christophe Clement, who saddles Za Approval (6-5) in today's G3 featured Poker Stakes, it may be Jimmy Jerkens who has won with four of his last eight starters through racing Friday.

Jerkens is seeking to slay a classy giant, and a very fast turf miler, with the streaking Sinatra (15-1), who is certain to be tested for class in this spot.

But what he does best is stalk, he's extremely sharp now and can handle a hot pace, something he's sure to get here given the presence of Peace and Justice (2-1). He's been training right along and goes very well beneath Maragh. The hope is that the favorite, like all of us, has lost a step to age--not Clement, of course, who's 27% efficient in LAY-3 scenarios.

Taking Sinatra to win at 10-1 or greater, key boxing him in all money positions with his two rivals here and adding Jack Milton (5-1), an impressive winner at CD last out.
