Tapitude Has the Aptitude
Today’s Belmont Park feature, a preliminary allowance for state-bred fillies and mares is quite a mixed bag of returnees, recent returnees, stretchouts and the like.
The key to this one-mile sprint is how recent maiden graduate reacts to her recent rapidly run 9-length maiden breaker sprinting and while there’s enough pedigree for the added distance, that win coming on a sealed wet track for which she is well bred is problematical.
So, as long as we’re dice rolling, let’s take the returning Tapitude (6-1), making her 4-year-old debut off a 13 month layoff. There are some things to like.
Primarily, her Equiform performance figure at 3 was as good as many of these have earned at 4 and in Chad Brown has a tutor adept at getting them ready. Her recent works are bullet-like and the naming for Rosie Napravnik is also encouraging from an urgency point of view.
Taking Tapitude to win at 4-1 or greater and key-boxing her in the multiples with top figure earner Sing Like A Bird (8-5), and class dropping Hot Splash (3-1) from the hot Rick Violette shed.
