Take “Mr. Juvenile” in the Tremont

Today's Belmont Park feature, the Tremont for juvenile colts going 5-1/2 furlongs, has drawn a field of five including two first time starters.

I guess experience for babies is a good thing, and these horses would run someplace else if not for this spot. But is that a good enough reason to card this event?

Of the five, Wesley Ward, Mr. Two Year Old, will saddle two, including the winner of his debut at Pimlico, April 17. Very well backed, he stalked the pace while racing four wide and showed some class to out-battle his rivals through the lane. Given sufficient recovery time, he has been training very well for his local and stakes debut.

Taking Bessie's Boy (2-1) to win, no price restrictions, and boxing an exacta with well bred newcomer, $150K purchase King Rontos, debuting for Rudy Rodriguez, and likely favorite Chocolate Wildcat (9-5), a fast maiden winner in GP debut.
