A Treat in the Feature

Today's eighth race feature at Belmont Park, a secondary allowances/optional claimer for New York-breds going a mile, is an interesting puzzle, one which we'll hopefully reduce to two major players. The gelded 7YO Copper Forest (7-2) likes Belmont Park and has won half of his eight starts at this trip: He likes to compete and Charlton Baker is a worthy 29% profitable for the year.

But we'll side with the younger gelded 4YO Bake Shop (4-1) who is reunited with trainer Juan Vasquez, under whose shed he earned his best performance figures but he, too, has won over the track, also is reuniting with Victor Carrasco, who's winning with 22% of his mounts this year and is 37% efficient for the barn overall.

Back with state-breds after being effective in open company, he's 2-for-3 at this trip and 1-for-7 doing anything else.

Taking Bake Shop to win at 3-1 or greater and an exacta box with Copper Street.
