Pedigree to Make Difference in Grassy 10 Furlongs
Interesting turf feature at Belmont going as the day's fifth race, a preliminary allowances/optional claimer for older turf horse racing 10 furlongs.
Seven betting interests and about as many different ways to go here, what with the recent Mike Maker claim of State Flag (5-2), Hardest Core (4-1), who's perfect in his debut under today's conditions while getting first-Lasix in last, and Ready To Taunt (5-1), going second-time out for Jacobson, a profitable angle.
However, we'll take Stormy Len (2-1), cut out to be a good horse at 2 but now seems to do his best racing on turf. He raced well in both starts on this course, including a tough-trip third last out, but now will stretch out to 10 furlongs with distance blood on both sides of his pedigree. Turf ace David Donk tabs, go-to man Johnny V. for the riding assignment,
Taking Stormy Len to win at early line odds or greater and key boxing him first and second in exotics with his rivals listed above.
