Man o’ Man o’ War

Today is getaway Saturday before Saratoga--tomorrow is the final day of the spring/summer meet--and the stand fittingly ends with a Grade 1, the Man o' War for older turf runner going 11 furlongs.

On paper it looks like a two-horse battle between the early line favorites; Boisterous (9-5) and Optimizer (2-1). The remainder of the field either doesn't class-up the same way, does their best racing elsewhere, or just are plain old not as good.

Given his preference for the surface (5 wins) and affinity for the trip (3-for-4) Boisterous enjoys the edge. Coming off a sharp 9-furlong G2 score at Monmouth, Johnny should have him in position throughout, getting the jump on other late runner when ready.

Taking Boisterous to win with no price restrictions, an exacta box with Optimizer, and adding price shots Al Khali (10-1) and Exclusive Strike (12-1) to the exotics mix.

Number of Selections since May, 2007: 1349

Number of Win-Place-Show Finishers: 414-254-207

Amount Wagered: $2,698 [to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $2,839.30

Profit to Date: $141.30
