Taking a Closer the Honorable Thing To Do

Today's feature is the Grade 2 Honorable Miss Stakes for 3YO fillies and up sprinting 6 furlongs and there is no shortage of talented females, but most of them are long on early speed. Unless a drying out surface is carrying speed all the way, a pace meltdown seems assured. That's points to Mark Henning's filly.

Merry Meadow (5-1) has shown marked improvement this season at 4, is the quintessential stretch-running sprinter, especially given today's trip and is nicely drawn outside, which should give her first run into the lane.

Taking Merry Meadow to win at 4-1 or greater, boxing the exacta with the prolific La Verdad (2-1) and adding My Wandy's Girl (7-2) and the blinker-less Red Velvet (12-1) to the exotics mix.

Number of Selections since 2007: 1575

Number of Win-Place-Show Finishers: 479-306-242

Amount Wagered: $3,152 [to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $3,238.60

Profit to Date: $86.60
