Every Day a Holiday at the Spa


Today's Shakespeare Caress Stakes for fillies and mares going 5-1/2 furlongs on the Mellon course is about as wide open as it gets, with more than half of the 10 horses having some kind of chance, some better than others.

Of the four most likely suspects, it's Holiday For Kitten (7-2) who looms the most intriguing. Absent since a Gulfstream key race (2 next out winners), she races well when fresh, as does her trainer (Ward 23% with 90+ day layups), she has tactical speed, kick, a solid workline and picks up Ramon for the Ramseys, who always point toward this meet.

Taking Holiday for Kitten to win at 5-2 or greater and keying her first and second in multiples with Well Deserved (3-1), Sunlight Sonata (8-1) and Zermatt (4-1).
