Fort Larned Seeking His Piece of Spa History in the Whitney

Today's Saratoga feature is the storied Grade 1 Whitney Handicap featuring a couple of real fast horses; Fort Larned (7-5) and Cross Traffic (5-2).

Given sufficient time to recover, Fort Larned, who proved his fondness for the Spa strip with a career best-at-the-time effort in winning last year's renewal, should give a 'A'-type performance once again, running back to his recent outstanding score in the G1 Stephen Foster.

We believe that Brian Hernandez should take a little sting out of Cross Traffic early, stalk him, take the lead and outfinish the late runners who will come charging down the lane.

Taking Fort Larned to win, no price restrictions, an exacta box with Cross Traffic, and exotics players can add Ron The Greek (6-1) and Successful Dan (12-1) to their mix.

Number of Selections since May, 2007: 1361

Number of Win-Place-Show Finishers: 418-257-207

Amount Wagered: $2,722 [to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $2,856.60
