Shug Holds the Key to John’s Call

Today's feature named for the venerable John's Call naturally is a turf marathon going 13 furlongs which means the trip with be everything. While the favorite Winning Cause (2-1) is getting huge class release dropping from five consecutive graded stakes, it's Tricky Hat (5-1) that peaks our interest.

Getting a couple pounds at this distance is not insignificant, neither is the ground saving pole, switch back to regular rider Rosie, an adaptable style, excellent late energy, 1-for-1 on Spa turf and exits a super-key race that produced four next-out winners, the early line value is too tempting to ignore.

Taking Tricky Hat to win at 3-1 or greater, an exacta box with the favorite, and adding veteran Spa Lover Grand Rapport (12-1) to the super-exotics mix.
