Taking What the Game Gives You

Today's Saratoga feature, the Grade 2 Fourstardave Handicap, marks the return of Horse of the Year Wise Dan to Saratoga.

Since he's 7-for-8 under the one mile turf conditions and earned his lifetime best performance figure in last year's renewal, the choice is obvious.

He picks up one pound off his Firecracker, a joke, really, as no racing secretary would dare crack the 130-pound barrier. He almost was put over the fence over ground he didn't care for after being trapped the whole way and still won with authority when clear.

Taking Wise Dan to win, no price restrictions, and a cold exacta with Za Approval (8-1).

P.S. Have picked losers before and will again, but taking G2 Hall of Fame off the turf on Hall of Fame Day is absurd.

Number of Selections since May, 2007: 1367

Number of Win-Place-Show Finishers: 420-258-208

Amount Wagered: $2,734 [to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $2,876.00

Profit to Date: $142.00
