Tom Will Leave Rivals Twisting in the Wind

It's a little disheartening when, every time you analyze the following day's Belmont Park feature, the attraction often is a Chad Brown trained favorite on the turf that appears unbeatable on paper.

The difference on today's New York-Bred Showcase Day card is that the $300,000 Empire Classic is on the dirt, but Brown will still saddle the favorite, Twisted Tom, 2-1 on the early line.

The late developing 3YO has come to himself this summer, becoming a major player in the state-bred ranks, so good in fact that he will spot several older rivals actual weight.

But if his recent company workout, with good spacing into this at his optimal distance (2-for-2) means anything, he will be one tough out.

Taking Twisted Tom to win, no price restrictions, keying exactas with Papa Shot (5-1) and Governor Malibu (7-2).
