Lukas Colt Takes Charge of Sophomore Division

The race of the day is at Churchill Downs with a 5:35 p.m. post time. The Grade 1 Clark Handicap features two favorites trying to win divisional honors; Breeders' Cup Classic disappointment Game On Dude (8-5) and Classic runner-up Will Take Charge (9-5). Game On Dude was assigned high-weight of 126 pounds while the 3YO Travers winner was assigned a flattering 123. We think he's up to it.

While the favorite has a daunting 7-for-9 record at the trip, Will Take Charge also loves the distance. There appears to be enough pace in here to suit the 3YO's style and while he's not won here, his familiarity with Churchill works in his favor, and many trip handicappers believe that, as the race was run, he was the best horse in the Classic having been carried 6-wide at headstretch (see replay).

Taking Will Take Charge to win, no price restrictions, and keying him first and second in the multiples with the favorite, threatening-to-break-through Bourbon Courage (8-1) and strong working price shot Easter Gift (12-1).
