Willet She or Won’t She?

Today's Big A feature is the Touch of Love Stakes for fillies and mares state-bred 3-year-olds and up racing the hybrid 7-1/2 furlong distance.

When last seen, Willet (9-5) steadied after breaking out of hand at the start of the Grade 2 Go for Wand on this track going a mile Nov. 29, was pushed to get into winning contention 4-wide on the turn, then finished one-paced in a dull performance.

Today, it's back to reality, a restricted event for a barn that's a profitable 50% in (6) non-graded events and is 2-for-2 on wet tracks, the likely scenario here. In fact, a wet surface gets her into the game earlier and more willingly, and today's dynamics suit.

Taking Willet to win at early line odds or greater and key boxing her first and second in exactas with the speedy La Verdad (2-1) and the very consistent Miss Valentine (8-1). The Rudy Rod entry (12-1) can be added to the super-exotics mix.
