OK, I’m on Tambourine

A pair of features on the Sunday docket, overnight stakes in which Todd Pletcher will saddle the favorite for both. The thinking, though, is that Percussion (2-1) will provide more value than Notacatbutallhama whose getting fairly significant class relief in the opener.

While Percussion's form appears spotty, he did show improved early speed going a mile and a sixteenth at Belmont but today stretches out to a more suitable distance for his style, and an all-important second turn with a return to the Big A, a preferred surface. The Inside draw and Javier won't hurt.

Taking Percussion to win at 8-5 or greater and keying him first and second in exactas with turf-to-dirt, good working Atigun (7-2) and Romancing the Gold (15-1) a good second in a Maryland Million Day stakes for a barn that's a profitable 23% effective second time off the claim.
