Lightening Strikes

Today's Gulfstream Park featured eighth race is a preliminary allowances/optional claiming for juveniles going 1-1/16 miles on the turf. What's a bit unusual, considering the conditions, is that there appears to be a great deal of pace in this contest. The two-turner should be contentious from end-to-end, suiting the late running Lightening Cutter very well.

In his three race career he's shown an ability to come from the clouds and overcome trouble, unusual in a young horse. His outside position could work nicely given the race shape, Jose Lezcano is at his best on this type and, even though he's still looking for his first win at the meet, Michael Trombetta's horses are running well with three money finishes from five starters through Saturday's races.

Taking Lightening Cutter to win, no price restrictions, and key boxing him in multiples with Summit County, Made in U.S.A. and Jump for Kitten.
