I Have a Request

Does Chad Brown saddle the horses to beat in every turf race? No, but it sure seems that way, especially if Christophe Clement is not represented.

Today’s preliminary allowances feature going a mile on the Widener has seven entrants making their 2015 debuts. (We don’t pick these spots, that’s just the way feature races shake out).

Request (3-1) is among the returnees. Obviously, Chad is tops coming back with grass runners off long layup, he’s a first-time, never insignificant, but more so as a son of Dynaformer and he reaches out for Javier (30% team).

There might actually be some pace to help his late-run style and the clincher is his best Energy Rating was earned on Belmont grass last season.

Taking Request to win at 5-2 or greater, an exacta box with returning Linda Rice hard-hitter Adirondack Dancer (7-2), and will go for the green in super-exotics, using Balderdash (20-1) to fill out the number with a host of others.

Number of Selections since 2008: 1743

Number of Win and Place Finishes: 523-333

Amount Wagered: $3,486 [to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $3,585.30

Profit to Date: $99.30

Recent Farro Claim Offers Value in Parx Feature

Today's feature race at Parx is a tough off, an optional allowance for 3YO and up going a mile and 70 yards.

Ration (9-2) makes his first start off the claim for Patricia Farro, profitable first time with new acquisitions. Stretching out to winning distance from recent sprints, gelded 5YO switches to white-hot Alvarado, riding at a 33% clip for the meet through Thursday’s racing.

Taking Ration to win at 4-1 or greater and key-boxing exactas with Sue Them All (5-2), a 7-time winner over this ground switching to winning partner Acosta and Speak Logistics (10-1), owning the field’s best Energy Ratings and shipping over from NY getting hot-riding Ritvo.

Today's Parx feature brought to you by special promotional arrangement. For an analysis of the final six races on the card from the Bensalem track, visit the handicapping blog section at http://www.123bet.com.

Can’t Imagine Shug Not Taking Down Today’s Man o’ War

With four features to choose from, we’ll concentrate on the headliner, the G1 Man o’ War. It’s a small-field event, as are most races these days at Belmont, but about half the field has an excellent chance; Imagining (9-5), Hardest Core (4-1) and Twilight Eclipse (3-1). Any other entrant would be a shocker.

The favorite looks the best of three. Both races in Florida this winter were good, losing one via a troubled trip. Now he’s back at Belmont, where he’s 5-for-10 in left and 11 furlongs looks like his best trip.

We’ll take Imagining to win, no price restrictions, and key-box exactas with the rivals as above.

Number of Selections since 2008: 1740

Number of Win and Place Finishes: 523-333

Amount Wagered: $3,480 [to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $3,585.30

Profit to Date: $105.30 {Friday results not included}
