Taking a Small Profit

Today's preliminary allowance turf feature boasts a solid favorite in Profiteer (7-5), shipping north for Shug McGaughey, who's won with his only other starter into Oldsmar recently.

Profiteer beat a very promising grass field in his only start in New York in fast time and while this obviously is a prep for something bigger, he should handle this group without needing his 'A' game.

Taking Profiteer to win, no price restrictions, and key-boxing multiples with course winner Wild Thing (5-1) and My Bariley (6-1).

A Proud Way to Begin 2017

Given my environment, it's probably easier to think about the Road to the Derby this early but, hey, NYRA is hosting the G3 Jerome today...and so it begins.

Takaful (1-1), a bit of a runoff in the Remsen, is making his second start around two turns going shorter and around an oval that should suit his vaunted speed. He will improve. But with the very quick El Areeb (3-1) shipping up from Maryland, we're taking an upset shot here.

Win With Pride (6-1) raced wide throughout the same race, made a mid-race, altered course, then understandably tired. Like to see what happens if he makes one run beneath Irad here.

Taking Win With Pride to win at 4-1 or greater, and key-boxing exactas with the aforementioned rivals.

Power Surge

TAMPA BAY DOWNS

RACE 9: TURF DASH STAKES

Top Contender: 4-POWER ALERT (5-2) was a game second vs. second in both recent starts. Was good second in this event last year in only Tampa start. Fresh, bullet work and holds class edge.

Box Contenders: 1-SUPER SPENDER (5-1) is five-tine winner at the trip, late-run style fits speedy dynamics here and recently won restricted stakes at Gulfstream. Nik Juarez profitable 29% for Cibelli. 12-SUMMATION TIME (4-1) placed gamely following mid-race move in listed stakes at GPWest for Clement most recently. Tactical speedster needs perfectly time late run here.

Exotic Contenders:
5-MORNING FIRE (10-1), 9-BILL’S PASSION (12-1), 11-ONE LUCKY STEP (15-1)
