Mrs. Smith Would Be Proud

Somewhat hopeful that the crowd will make the wrong favorite in the G3 Herecomesthebride, setting on Mr. Pletcher’s very sharp early favorite Hilda’s Passion (5-2).

But we’re going back to recent heroine Tar Heel Mom who always does her best racing on this surface, handles the hybrid distance quite well and is nicely drawn outside for yet another stalking trip to victory.

Taking Tar Heel Mom to win at 2-1 or greater and keying her first and second in exactas with the favorite and Marty Wolfson’s Jehan (5-1), who is an unworldly43% efficient going sprint to route and back to sprint.

Running Totals: (807) 258-167-111 Total Dollar Return: $1,787.90 [win selections only]

Gone With the Wind

Don’t need a search warrant to find the right favorite in today’s G2 Gulfstream Sprint Handicap. If Soaring Empire (8-5) was good enough to win the Hal’s Hope, in which he faced better going a mile, a race that has proven very live, turning back with these with sharp works since his last is a good fit. But the price won’t be at likely odds-on.

Instead, we’ll take a price shot with Guam Typhoon (10-1), a 7-furlong specialist who prepped for this with a New Pace Top performance going three-quarters in the Pelican at Tampa Bay, a good place to leg up if your plan to is get more money at your best distance next out, the tougher competition notwithstanding.

Taking Guam Typhoon top win at 6-1 or greater and exacta key boxes with Soaring Empire and super sharp Caixa Electronica (5-1).

When In Roma…

Hopefully the rain keeps up…and we remain on the turf for today’s feature, a classified allowances for fillies and mares on the grass going a mile in a battle of class masters.

Speaking of which, it appears likely that the early favorite Strike It Rich (5-2) is well spotted with these by Christophe Clement, whose horses have been live recently, but it’s Romacaca who looks most likely here.

And that because she’s proven consistently faster than the group on performance figures, hails from a barn that’s 39 percent efficient with their turf runner, is batting 45 percent at the meet and picks up the meet’s leading rider, Paco Lopez, who should put her tactical speed and kick to good use.

Taking Romacaca to win at 2-1 or greater and exacta boxes with the speedy Quebrada Shiner (4-1) turning back to her winning distance and reuniting with winning partner Jose Lezcano, and possible price shot Mystic Miracle (6-1).

Running Totals: (805) 257-167-111 Total Dollar Return: $1,781.30 [win selections only]
