School Daze

The Belmont Fall Meet begins with the Grade 2 Bowling Green Handicap, which can also be viewed as a prep for the G1 John Hirsch Turf classic later this meet.

Given than there is not that much separating three of four of the contenders here, we’ll reach out for a price shot in Kindergarden Kid (8-1). Breaking from the rail beneath Alan Garcia.

In a recent funk Garcia still can rate a turf course over a distance of ground very well, and this Barclay Tagg trainee looks like the main speed, and could be lone speed if the dynamics dictate.

His performance figures are not that far behind the logical contenders, he’s been drilled hard for this spot and this race just might be “his Turf classic.”

Taking Kindergarden Kid to win at 6-1or greater and key-boxing him in the exacta with Grassy (5-2), Garrett Gomez in for the ride, and Sanagas (2-1), an impressive winner of a recent Spa marathon, with trainer Graham Motion pushing all the right buttons of late.

Running Totals: (928) 291-187-131 Total Dollar Return: $2,013.90 [win selections only]

Fast, Faster, Fastest

What does one do when the a 7 furlong sprint at Saratoga appears loaded with speed? Check the pace, figures, the final figures, the post position and the spacing. And if it turns out to be a race for juveniles such as the Grade 1 Hopeful, it's always nice to have some experience and, while you're at it, a race over the track

Enter J C's Pride (5-2), who qualifies on all counts. Given the competitive nature of the field, getting odds close to the early line quote is a distinct possibility.

Taking J C's Pride to win at 2-1 or greater and keying boxing him first and second in the multiples with Currency Swap (3-1) and Power World (6-1)

Running Totals: (927) 291-187-131 Total Dollar Return: $2,013.90 [win selections only]

Judy, Judy, Judy

Today’s headliner is the Grade 1 Spinaway and this renewal is interesting not only for its diversity but for the appearance of Judy The Beauty (3-1).

Quick: Name the last juvenile filly you can remember to go 3-for-3 to begin her career--in different countries on two continents. But there they are; the U.S., Europe, then back to North America for Woodbine’s Shadywell.

Jude The Beauty is working well for main track debut by keeping step with Flashpoint in Aqueduct trials, that would be the 3-year-old stakes winning colt. I’ll play her until she gets beat.

Taking Judy The Beauty to win, no price restrictions, and key-boxing her in the exacta with Georgie’s Angel (2-1), winner of the G3 Schuylerville, and impressive maiden winner Grace Hall (7-2).

Running Totals: (925) 291-186-131 Total Dollar Return: $2,014.20 [win selections only]
