Little Al and Big Favorite

Today’s non-Spa-like feature is a secondary allowances/optional claiming for older horses going nine furlongs. Ruffino for 007 Bond is tempting third off the layup, sitting the pole and a likely trip at 5-1 early odds. So is National Pride (3-1), training over at Greentree, a winner over the track and dropping a notch for Kiaran McLaughlin.

But Glenwood Canyon (5-2) is going to be a very tough out here. Obviously, the 5-year-old has issues, with only 14 lifetime starts, so he needs to make all of them count and Little Al Stall has done precious little wrong at this meeting. The gelding did benefit from a soft pace last out but he did finish with great determination, forcing a much classier Convocation to his limit. No such rival here.

Taking Glenwood Canyon to win at 7-5 or greater and keying him first and second in multiples with Ruffino and National Pride.

Running Totals: (718) 236-147-97 Total Dollar Return: $1,633.10 [win selections only] {Sunday selections not included}

You Expected Something Else?

Today’s Spa feature is the G1 Personal Ensign. Like a horse called Rachel Alexandra. I expect her to bring the fight to Life At Ten and not be dictated, too.

Taking the reigning Horse of the Year to win, no price restrictions, and a one-way exacta with Todd’s filly.

Running Totals: (717) 235-147-97 Total Dollar Return: $1,617.10 [win selections only]
