Distance Will Prove the Difference in CCAO

In the Acorn at Belmont we thought Abel Tasman (8-5) might be vulnerable on the cutback to a one-turn mile and tried to beat her with Salty (5-2). As it turned out, both fillies ran great and Salty might have had to do more work, so we'll take her back today, right?

Not so fast my friends. The CCAO is nine furlongs, which is Abel Tasman's wheelhouse and she wouldn't be here unless she impressed her trainer in her final work. She did, and she's here, and she will be a very tough out.

Taking Abel Tasman to win, no price restrictions, and an exacta box with Salty.

With head and heart, it’s Lady Eli in the Diana

I was sorely tempted into trying to beat Lady Eli (4-5) in the Grade 1 Diana but I keep staring at her lifetime slate of (11) 8-3-0, the fact she likes the course and is 2-for-2 at this trip. She's spotting weight here and with enough wise guys against her here, early line odds are very possible.

We're taking her to win, no price restrictions, and key boxing exactas with Antonoe (3-1) and Quidira (12-1).

Some Lake George for Spa Opener

Of the two opening day Spa features, we're choosing the one with the larger field; the popularity of turf racing a huge factor as well.

If it were for the proverbial bad luck, Dream Dancing (9-2) wouldn't have any luck at all. Forced to chase a speedy, classy rival in last--not her best game--might priors were very tough trips against the likes of high class stable La Coronel.

There are many nice fillies in here but none of that class in our view. I understand about the very wide draw; we're hoping that factors into the price.

Taking Dream Dancing to win at 4-1 or greater and an exacta box with Party Boat.
