Soup’s On

Open and interesting two-turner for 3YO fillies on the turf and a reasonable place to step out.

Souper Striking (8-1) isn't as flashy as some of her rivals but she's going in the right direction developmentally, suits the dynamics, is well posted, working crisply, attracts Irad and the price should be fair given the class rise off a state-bred maiden win.

Taking Souper Striking to win at 6-1 or greater and key-boxing exactas with Pass It on (7-2) and So Hi Society (3-1)

“BitaWalder” the Top Combo in GP Turf Feature

Today's Gulfstream feature comes at 7-1/2 furlongs on the turf and, like it or not, Bitacora (6-5) is going to be a very tough out.

Dropping from a state-bred stakes into an optional state-bred claiming allowances is a significant move. She showed improvement in her 4YO debut for Peter Walder, who saddled her for the first time.

She is very forward on the TG scale, she's making her third start off a long break, and Walder is a profitable, otherworldly 31% effective when turning back in distance. The pole and Irad Ortiz certainly doesn't hurt her chances.

Taking Bitacora to win, no price restrictions, boxing her in the exacta with impressive Tampa maiden breaker Steelin Magnolias (12-1) with ace turf pilot Luca Panici, and adding another forward looker, Cibelli's O.K. Kay (7-2) with Tyler, to the super-exotics mix.

Hearts and Minds

Taking a horse in today's Gulfstream feature with my heart as much as my head. But Heart to Heart (5-2) has the benefit of making handicapping sense which could earn this cool horse the Grade 1 that has eluded him throughout his career.

When the gates were sprung for his season's debut, Heart to Heart went straight up in the air, losing all chance. Today he is reunited with favorite partner Julien Leparoux, stretches to a favorable trip (2-for-3) and should control a relatively pace-less group, assuming a clean break.

Taking Heart to Heart to win at 2-1 or greater and an exacta box with classy Chad returnee, Money Multiplier (3-1).
