Don’t Stop Belelievin’

Today's Belmont feature is a secondary allowances/optional claiming going 10 furlongs on turf and there's no shortage of speed on paper. Whether it plays out that way is another matter but I'm playing the hand that was dealt. In that context, we're playing the percentages with Can'thelpbelieving (4-1).

HIs latest victory came with a perfect trip at Saratoga but the dynamic is similar here, the spacing is good, and Johnny takes the re-ride for Motion, the team that got it done at the Spa. Further, his best Energy Rating was earned on this course at the summer meet.

Taking Can'thelpbelieving to win at 5-2 or greater and key-boxing exactas with consistent marathoner Red Vine (5-2) and hard-trying, favorably weight Where's Danny (15-1). Also adding sharp Maryland shipper St Moose (2-1) to the super-exotics mix.

Number of Selections since 2007: 1622

Number of Win-Place-Show Finishers: 491-316-251

Amount Wagered: $3,244 [to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $3,361.20

Profit to Date: $117.20

He’s One Mean Hombre over Big Sandy

Today's Belmont Park feature is a secondary allowances/optional claiming boasts a 7-5 early line favorite in Bay of Plenty. This McLaughlin trainee is a worthy favorite as he was an impressive winner under these conditions over the track in May. That's the bad news, that and the fact he's drawn the pole position out of the mile chute. The good is that he's very talented and this barn is 24% profitable returning with this type of spacing and Irad rides.

However, we'll take any value offered on Bad Hombre (8-1) within reason, meaning 6-1 or greater. Going turf to dirt, his 3 lifetime wins have comes at this venue and he's won 2 of 3 going this trip. He prepped here going 7/8s at the spring meet then earned his lifetime best Energy Rating, that scenario repeated here. We also like the switch to the underrated Angel Arroyo.

Taking Bad Hombre to win at 6-1 or greater and an exacta box with the favorite.

Number of Selections since 2007: 1622

Number of Win-Place-Show Finishers: 491-316-251

Amount Wagered: $3,244 [to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $3,361.20

Profit to Date: $117.20

Do You Know the Way to Hebbronville?

The G2 Futurity at Belmont Park has drawn a tricky field of five and of the three major contenders, who all figure closely, Hebbronville (2-1) is the most accomplished and still has upside. Coming off a New Pace Top with good spacing and sharp blowouts, his tactical speed and outside draw are the difference makers.

Taking Hebbronville to win at 2-1 or greater and keying in exactas over Cinco Charlie (4-1) and Blofeld (6-5).

Number of Selections since 2007: 1621

Number of Win-Place-Show Finishers: 491-315-251

Amount Wagered: $3,242 [to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $3,361.20

Profit to Date: $119.20
