Passion for Prices

Back to bluegrass country for today's feature, a secondary allowances on the turf for fillies and mares going 1-1/16 miles on the Keeneland turf, one that offers an opportunity for value.

Horses that will take money are the Ramsey entry (5-2), headed by class-tested Emotional Kitten, and graded stakes victress Honey Hues, who looks like the controlling speed.

But we're taking a mare that can handle a solid pace and can finish, and who is more patient at waiting and making the last turf run than Leparoux, who is enjoying a solid meet thus far.

Northern Passion (8-1) was even making up ground in her lone start on this course vs. Somali Lemonade--no such rival here-and that was after entering the stretch 8 wide.

Today the 5YO mare is stretching out off two sprints, a profitable 21% angle for the Casse barn, and her state-bred wins in Canada do not count against her vs. today's rivals.

Taking Northern Passion to win at 9-2 or greater and key box her first and second in exotics with her two rivals above and will add the well connected Malibu Yankee (6-1) to the exotics mix.

Number of Selections since 2007: 1625

Number of Win-Place-Show Finishers: 493-316-251

Amount Wagered: $3,250 [to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $3,376.90

Profit to Date: $126.90

Crown Her Queen

Down to KEE--check that--up to Keeneland today for the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes for 3YO fillies on the turf going 9 furlongs and, as you might expect, what will be competitive event. Out suspicion is that after today, Crown Queen (4-1) will lead this division.

Since turning 3, the $1.6 million filly is undefeated in three starts, handling various dynamics and surfaces. She indicated she was good when breaking her maiden on Belmont turf in June, but she looked like a budding star when she won at Saratoga. She confirmed that assessment in the Lake Placid.

We're taking Crown Queen to win at 3-1 or greater and key-boxing exactas with Chad Brown's uncoupled entrants; Ball Dancing (9-2) and Minorette (9-2), and adding Speed Seeker (12-1) and Aurelia's Belle (15-1) to the super-exotics mix.

Number of Selections since 2007: 1624

Number of Win-Place-Show Finishers: 492-316-251

Amount Wagered: $3,248 [to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $3,369.10

Profit to Date: $121.10

Maker Runner an Asset at Inflated Early Odds

Today's Belmont feature, a secondary allowances optional claimer for state-breds is a battle of the dropdowns on paper, and very likely te way the result will fall. However, we believe that one of them offers good value and might even be a legitimate favorite.

But that honor goes to David Jacobson, who is cutting the claiming price in half today with Strong Impact (5-2), a worthy contender for certain. But no more so in out mind than Asset Inflation, 6-1 on the early line. The Mike Maker runner has good speed and can also kick late, something Javier Castellano is sure to try to exploit.

Posted well and with good spacing, Maker will try to win a fourth race in six recent starts for his runners that drop following a win, the scenario here.

Taking Asset Inflation to win at 3-1 or greater, an exacta box with Strong Impact, and adding Dowse's Beach (5-1) and With Exultation to the super-exotics mix.

Number of Selections since 2007: 1623

Number of Win-Place-Show Finishers: 491-316-251

Amount Wagered: $3,246 [to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $3,361.20

Profit to Date: $115.20
