All Star Value

Today's NW3/optional features some very fast horses, including Juba (5-2), who's always been fast, always well regarded, but found ways not to win. But now that he's in the middle of his 5YO year, maybe he's figured it out.

Certainly trainer Jimmy Jerkens must have--and he's 35% profitable with would-be repeaters.

But perhaps All Star Red (3-1) won't get the parimutuel respect he deserves. Slower on both the Thoro-Graph and our Energy Ratings. he is moving forward developmentally and incrementally, coming into his own at 4.

Talng All Star Red to win at 3-1 or greater and an exacta box with Juba.

You’ve Got To Be Joking

When I heard the reason why Private Zone was a mandated scratch from today's G2 True North Stakes, m reaction was you've got to be joking.

But it was no joke for the owners who sat on him for five months following his over-the-top non-effort in the NYRA Mile. And he was training up a storm, so, win or lose, everybody loses.

Since the last time was the right time to bet on Catalina Red, we're going to pass.

No, we're not joking.

Charlton Baker, who had a winner yesterday, has improved the 7-year-old gelding he sends out in the True North, a horse called Joking.

No, were not joking.

We don't joke about horses that never have been better, quite literally, and is 20-1 on the early line. Half that price would represent good value.

Taking Joking to win, no price restrictions, and boxing him with the Jorge Navarro-improved Catalina Red (2-1). And why not; Navarro improves everything!
