Far From Slew

Seattle Slew deserves better than a "hundred-grander" for horses that haven't won a stakes race this year...and we'll leave it at that.

Far From Over (7-5) is the likely favorite and winner. A good second I his last start at this trip at the Spa, he won his only previous start over this ground.

Taking Far From Over to win, no price restrictions, and a exacta box with Backsideofthemoon (8-1).

Seeing the Forest Through the Favorite

There was some evidence on opening day at Kentucky Downs that Christophe Clement is about to breakout from his Spa struggles and if he is not, I'm sure Epping Forest (5-1) will be happy to return to Long Island turf where he's won three of four starts.

Additionally, making a mini-stretch out off his sharp last-run surge in her lone Spa start will suit as well; her next defeat at this trip would be her first in three starts. The switch to Joel Rosario matches up well with her running style.

Taking Epping Forest to win at 3-1 or greater and an exacta box with Rubilinda (5-2).

Hopeful Pletcher Planting His Flag

Per usual, the G1 Hopeful bring down the curtain at the Spa and a typical head-scratcher it is. We'll opt for the longer Pletcher in this spot.

National Flag (9-2) disappointed when bet off the board on debut but improved big time in second start, her first over today's track. This gives him an experience edge over his faster stable mate who also has drawn the rail.

Nicely drawn in mid-pack with meet's leading Ortiz brother, Speightstown gives him license to handle any type of footing he may encounter.

Taking National Flag to win at 3-1 or greater and key-boxing exactas wit impressive maiden breaking mate Mojovation (2-1) and experienced, tough-tripping Free Drop Billy (4-1).
