Can't believe it but here it is, New Year's Day, and we have our first Derby. Sorry, but I thik it's fun. It's certainly a great, very hard betting race, and it's ungraded, so no Kentucky Derby implications beyond seeing what kind of promise these colts have and if they're up to the next level.

Even though he lacks two-turn experience and a race over the track, we're playing the percentage with Reveron (4-1). He's developing very nicely, has the right style, an inside post and not only an excellent figure last out and good spacing, returning in five weeks, but he's never taken a backward step in four lifetime starts. There are plenty of promising individuals in here and this race is certain to have implications down the road.

Taking Reveron to win at 7-2 or greater and key-boxing him in the exotics with Silver Menace (6-1), Ancient Rome (3-1), Casual Trick (6-1), Politicallycorrect (8-1) and Yourhonorandglory (10-1).
