Don’t understand the enthusiasm for early line favorite Arabian Song (2-1) because while returning off a layup for an outfit quite effective with turf to dirt animals, her numbers and company lines are such that she deserves no discernible edge.
She is in top hands but the extreme outside slip at 7 furlongs could prove problematical.
Paulette Caveat (6-1) just inside her in the starting game is a proven quantity when fresh, raced very well on this strip at the last meet, earning figures that are likely to improve with the added maturity gained.
The barn is a very live 2 for 7 at this meet, is profitable with returning layoff runners, albeit from a small sample, and also is a worthy 3 for 7 going turf to dirt. This filly can finish, as can very solid finisher Pablo Morales.
Taking Paulette Caveat to win at 4-1 or greater and key-boxing her in multiples with the favorite and surface loving Throttle Up (8-1).
Running Totals: (1002) 309-202-142 Total Dollar Return: $2,130.70 [win selections only]

In this here game, there are so many ways to look at things, and it is difficult to 8-Obey The Rules, when who’s to say what those rules really are; there really are none. Oh yeah, I’ve heard it all, don’t play gray horses in the mud, don’t play drop downs with trainers wearing jeans in the paddock, etc. Keep your ears open, you can really learn a lot. After applying all this nebulous knowledge to the 9th at Tampa Bay today, it seems 8-Obey The Rules comes out as the probable winner. Given November off before again appearing on the training track, leads me to believe this will be a plus, not a minus. Obviously a drop here, but the running lines won’t elevate the crowd’s pulse much. Breeder listed as the owner. I’ve heard the clubhouse brain surgeons say that this means the breeder kept the best for themselves. Unfortunately, the grandstands rocket scientists say that this means nobody was willing to buy her. It is all so confusing! Also have heard you should never trust a female trainer with a hyphenated last name; can’t seem to make up their minds who they are. Have taken their delusions of grandeur to a number of different ovals with this one, and happily, looks like today they have found a field they can beat down in old FLA. I’m with you regarding 10-Arabian Song (off the board), but then that is the way I feel about 9-Paulette Caveat as well. Thanks for the warning JP. We all need to 8-Obey The Rules, that is, if we can figure out what they are. Just make sure her trainer is not wearing jeans in the paddock.
8-Obey The Rules (5.63)
5-Ipswich Bay (8.62)
4-Island Bound (8.69)
