We shall leave the handicapping port of Hallandale Beach for a trip up to Gotham where the race of the same name for 3-year-olds will be conducted.

Will the brilliant Samraat (5-2) remain undefeated? Will Uncle Sign (3-1), who spotted Samraat some conditioning last out, reverse rolls and wear him the favorite down, and not the other way this time?

As it turns out, however, I'm not the only one making a trip north today. A month ago, Todd Pletcher sent Harpoon up the road to Tampa and the horse ran a winning race in the G3 Sam F Davis, but was denied the nose victory by stablemate Vinceramos.

Pletcher must have told the van guy to keep heading north because Harpoon (10-1), who never taken a backward step on my energy projections since being asked to run long. And many of those Tapits really like running long.

Harpoon gets a wide draw but Irad Ortiz Jr. can compensate and if the two favorites prove too fast, the point is moot. But if they don't we like the gray colt to run down all the speed signed on in this 1-1/16 miles two-turner.

Taking Harpoon to win at 5-1 or greater and key-boxing him in exactas with the two favorites.
