For both, it will be an issue of conditioning and intent although Palace Malice (5-2) is returning from a shorter layup while Gulfstream loving Itsmyluckyday (7-2) is returning from a pelvic fracture suffered in the Haskell. We're more inclined to bet the former and watch the latter.
No question that Belmont and Jim Dandy winning Palace Malice is the most accomplished in that regard. Further he was a good second in the Jockey Club Gold Cup, had no chance fiven his trip in the BC Classic and, oh yes, might have been best in the Travers as well.
He has not missed a single beat in his training, is reunited with Johnny, and is nicely drawn outside in a field of seven in this one turn mile. Of course, he will need to run down uber sharp Falling Sky (3-1).
