Today's third race is interesting if you’re a Kentucky Derby fan as it marks the season’s debut of Gemologist (8-5) and Currency Swap (9-5), albeit the latter seems better suited to middle distances.
Even if today’s race is meant to be a prep, which surely it is, with a two-race pre-Derby schedule, you can’t come out ill prepared off the bench. But there's no need to get all roughed up in your first start in Arkansas, either.
Now Currency Swap has proven faster and he did win the Hopeful Stakes before going to the sidelines. The one-turn distance suits him better than Geologist, who’s also buried on the rail. But consider the distance, it’s advantage Gemologist.
In the battle of the undefeated, we prefer Gemologist to win, no price restrictions, and no exotic plays.
Running Totals: (1043) 322-204-152 Total Dollar Return: $2,226.00 [win selections only]

Looks like a gem of a pick, but to increase value, will use in back half of double with High Pomeroy in the 2nd.

Holding 2 quarters here in my hand for an arctic triple, and investing “slightly more” on the icy exacta.
3-Currency Swap (2.09)
1-Gemologist (4.42)
5-Angel’s Tune (6.86)
