Also, there’s one shipping up from South Florida, which is OK, even preferable, except for the fact that we’re talking about a lifetime best effort—and best by a lot. Still, this is the time of year when “strangers,” especially those shippers from the south, excel.
Roman Invasion (6-1) is adaptable enough to come from off the pace but currently sharp enough to contest the pace before drawing off to win at a demanding 7-1/2 furlong middle sprint distance by open lengths.
The spacing is acceptable as his Double Top occurred in early February, yielding sufficient recovery time.
Taking Roman Invasion to win at 5-1 or greater and key boxing him in exactas with Joan’s Choice (9-5), exiting a key race producing two next out winners.
Running Totals: (1056) 325-207-155 Total Dollar Return: $2,239.60 [win selections only]

Ahh, Aqueduct in the Spring; brings back fond memories of yesteryear. Would skip school with my buddies and pile in my Buick, LeSabre, and head for the “Big A.” In fact, it was the only “A” I ever got in school. Gas was $.30 a gallon, slot machines could only be found in some mythical place we had heard about called “Las Vegas” or “Monte Carlo,” or the basement of a gangster bar in the Bronx. Have not been back to my Alma Mater since they transformed it into a den of iniquity designed to fleece the elderly and the ignorant, and probably never will. Only missed a handful of Wood Memorials in the past 50 years. Tell me, did they shrink the size of the Winner’s Circle in order to be able to put in more of those stupid machines?
Liking the way that 6-Black N Beauty is coming to hand; never been better; can you read the 3-Writingonthewall, I could read it all the way from 5-Saginaw. Black is beautiful today.
6-Black N Beauty (3.80)
5-Saginaw (5.32)
3-Writingonthewall (5.54)

TTT,
I bet you got plenty of B’s in school as well, heading for Belmont. The dumbing down of American gambling has no end, I read this morning in Newsday that the Big A slots casino recently drew 50,000 people on a Saturday night, while the racing struggles with 3,000 die hards.
Tough feature race today at the Big A, so I’ll price shop with Preach also with Roman Invasion to stalk and run down the speed. If Roman Invasion can run anywhere close to his Keeneland race as a 2yo against Nobles Promise and Aikenite he wins.
Speaking of Keeneland, 2 more days!

Gents, could have gone many different ways in this small field; it is tough, indeed.

Mr. Kitty, you’re so correct. This one guy, Louie Oliva, who had not lost his baby fat yet, used to ride in the back, and by the time we got to Belmont, after the ride from Westchester, he was asleep (that Buick was comfortable), we would park under a tree, open the windows, and leave him there, one time he was still sleeping when we returned to the car after tapping out early, and we only awoke him to borrow money.

TTT, LOL ... how about doubleheaders? Belmont to Roosevelt? Aqueduct to Yonkers? Belmont to Meadowlands?
