The early line favorite is the fastest horse by definition, Off The Jak (3-1), who’s shipping south himself for Bisnath Parboo, himself profitable with horses returning from layups in today’s time frame scenario.
If he runs back to his Aqueduct finale, this dance is over, but it was such a huge top that a regression is almost assured. He’s worth trying to beat.
Grande Shores looks like the most inviting alternative. While his win late last year came at 5-½ furlongs, his lifetime best figure did come on this racetrack.
Nicely freshened, his 6F internal figure in his GP finale makes him competitive here and his half-mile breeze on April 13th was fastest of his peer group that week. The Gold barn has a live (3) 1-1-1 slate at the current meet.
Taking Grande Shores to win at 5-1 or greater and keying him in multiples with the favorite and surface loving turnback Fit And Awesome (4-1).
