The New York-bred program certainly can be proud of the turf specialists that showed up in today’s featured seventh race from Belmont Park.

Half of the 10 horses entered overnight have an excellent chance here, from the rail out: Lubash (6-1), who earned an excellent figure in this race last year; Pocket Cowboys (10-1), who’s earned his best Equiform figures on this surface in his career.

The third major contender is Street Game, freshened since a competitive figure open class mile at Gulfstream March 31 and the fourth is Mr. Vegas (5-2), who returns with good spacing and gets class relief, dropping out of open graded stakes.

Finally, the favorite, the redoubtable state-bred turf champion Compliance Officer (2-1), who raced once at Fair Grounds this winter, a good figure effort, now returns for a go at his fellow New Yorkers.

The problem with Compliance Officer is the six month layoff combined with highweight of 123 pounds, whereby he spots his rivals anywhere from three to seven pounds. It makes sense to try to beat him given today’s scenario.

The horse most likely to deliver a top effort is Street Game (4-1), whose best figures have come at today’s distance. Further, his lifetime best was at 8 furlongs on this course on off going last year, showing laudable versatility.

Taking Street Game to win at 7-2 or greater and key-boxing him first and second in multiples with the rivals listed here.
