Nothing Sentimental About This
Today's featured 4th at Belmont Park is a secondary allowances/optional claimer for older fillies and mares sprinting 7 furlongs. We think it's a good betting race despite only six entrants, because you can make a case for all of them. We'll go for the gusto with Sentimental Lass (15-1).
The thinking is that the 5-year-old mare was badly in need of her first two starts in over a year, that she is continuing to work bullets, that her three lifetime wins came on this track, that she's won on a sloppy Belmont surface and is classy, given to her placing to then undefeated Awesome Feather. Add a switch to the aggressive Luis Saez and an outside slip in a small field and you have the recipe for an upset.
Taking Sentimental Lass to win at 8-1 or greater and keying her in quniellas with the in-form Delightful Quality (2-1) and Sure Route (3-1), making her first start off the Jacobson claim.
