A Little Birdie Told Me

Happy Oaks Day, one and all.

As we alluded to earlier, we believe Birdatthewire (6-1) is a good filly. She's explosive, including on our own Energy Ratings. Further, the race shape figures to suit her well.

For the record, we're taking Birdatthewire to win, no price restrictions, and key-boxing her in exactas with Condo Commando (4-1), Eskenforthemoney (20-1) and Stellar Wind (7-2), adding Puca (15-1) to the super-exotics mix.

Number of Selections since 2008: 1735

Number of Win and Place Finishes: 522-332

Amount Wagered: $3,470 [to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $3,570.50

Profit to Date: $100.50

Tricky Thursday Feature at Big B

Lots of returnees and horses with poor recent form comprise most of today's featured turf sprint at Belmont. Current form is so dicey, in fact, we're taking one of those fresh faces.

Given Free has done some of her best racing when fresh, just like she did in her Saratoga victory last year while coming off an 11-month layup; this time her down time was a more typical winter respite.

She has excellent early speed and today's 6-furlong trip should hit her wheelhouse nicely. Capable speed rider Fernando Jara takes the call from Lisa Lewis, who can get one ready to fire off the bench.

Taking Given Free to win, no price restrictions, and key-boxing exactas with Royal Jest, owner of the best Energy Ratings in the field, and Nonnie Connie, the best of those that have run recently and switching to Jose Ortiz.

Number of Selections since 2008: 1734

Number of Win and Place Finishes: 522-332

Amount Wagered: $3,466 [to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $3,570.50

Profit to Date: $102.50
