Here’s One Valid Opinion

Today’s Gulfstream feature is a secondary allowances-optional claiming for some quick fillies going five furlongs on the turf. Three hold our interest: favored Bella Moneta (5-2), making its first start off the Marty Wolfson claim; the fast Trippi’s Sailor (7-2), in position to rebound after a few tough trips, and the improving Yes It’s Valid (6-1), offering fair odds.

The latter is racing in career form at present, showing a fondness for this course, her kick nicely suiting the possibility of a speedy pace scenario. She’s been freshened by a barn good with its turf runners, and Paco Lopez has been making the right decisions all meeting long. Her outside draw helps further.

Taking Yes It’s Valid to win at 7-2 or greater [turf only] and keying her first and second in exactas with her main contenders here.

Running Totals: (835) 266-173-114 Total Dollar Return: $1,857.30 [win selections only]

Take the Value, Pal

Marty Wolfson is not having his usual 30 percent meet and in an act of anxiety is surrounding the feature, a mere $60,000 overnighter with four entrants, all uncoupled, including Amazing (5-2) who is sure to be closed to odds-on at post time.

The interesting filly with us is the Derek Ryan Tampa shipper C. C.’s Pal (8-1) who fit’s the speedy race shape, is nicely position outside beneath Paco Lopez and worked strongly at her Tampa base for the trip south.

Taking C. C.’s Pal to win at 6-1 or greater and keying her in exactas first and second with the favorite and first-time Dutrow trainee from California, All Due Respect (3-1).

Running Totals: (835) 266-173-114 Total Dollar Return: $1,857.30 [win selections only]

One Musketier Should Be Enough

The handicapping cliché racetrackers like to use is that the place you lose it is the place you get it back.

When last they met in the Grade 2 MacDiarmida at 11 furlongs, old pro Musketier (3-1) was getting all boxed up while Prince Will I Am (2-1) found clear sailing to make one late run to get the money.

No question that four year old is still developing with no end appearing in sight. But today there figures to be more pace for the Roger Attifield trainee, the added furlong suits him better and he benefits from a four-pound weight shift. We’re buying in.

After getting off to a fast start at this meet, veteran Alex Solis has slumped. This would be a good spot to turn it around.

Taking Musketier to win at 3-1 or greater and keying him in the multiples with Prince Will I Am and Eldaafer (6-1) who will appreciate the drop from G1 and the stretchout to 12 furlongs.

Running Totals: (835) 266-172-115 Total Dollar Return: $1,857.30 [win selections only]
