And a Filly Shall Lead Them

With three Grade 1s to choose from, the one that matters most is the Woodward and is the most compelling for the presence of the filly. And we believe Harve De Grace has more ability than the males she’s meeting here.

She has earned top figures with consistency, fits the race shape and is nicely drawn outside, has won at the distance, nearly won the Alabama over this track. As a filly, she also gets a three-pound sex allowance.

Taking Harve De Grace to win at 3-2 or greater and boxing her in the exacta with Rule, coming off a breakthrough effort on the Equiform scale while prepping for this.

Running Totals: (924) 290-186-131 Total Dollar Return: $2,007.40 [win selections only]

There are two features today but the Riskaverse Stakes, race 8, has the potential for a better payoff; more compelling.

It appears a battle between the two favorites and hot hot trainers, Chad Brown and Bill Mott.

Making her U. S. debut, Star former (7-2) had little chance to win at any time, as far back as she raced. Then she unleashed a wide, too late rally, going from ninth to third, beaten a mere 1-¼ lengths. Identical conditions and Lezcano might have figured her out with that experience.

But it’s Chad Brown’s Divalarious who’s been pointed toward this since taking a preliminary allowances back in June at Belmont. Of Brown’s 20 winners this many, many have come on turf. He’s adept coming back in this time frame and he’s a profitable 30% with repeaters. Castellano takes the return call.

Taking Divalarious to win at 2-1 or greater, and exacta box with Starformer, and using Blushandbashful (8-1) and Decennial top optimize the exotics result.

Make the Most of Today’s With Anticipation

Today’s Spa feature is the Grade 2 With Anticipation for juvenile colts going two turns on turf and it features several very promising turf runners.

Favoritism likely will boil down to impressive maiden breaker Captain Webb (3-1) for Team Todd and the experienced Dullahan (7-2), with excellent performance figures and turf style even if he is a maiden after three starts.

But the most interesting is Optimizer (8-1) who is very well turf bred, overcame a wide trip and bulky field to break maiden, worked well subsequently and Albarado, who rode him with a lot of confidence in his only start, takes the return call.

Wayne Lukas is not known for proficiency developing turf horses; this guy could change all that.

Taking Optimizer to win at 9-2 or greater and key boxing him in exactas with his rivals listed here.

Running Totals: (922) 290-185-130 Total Dollar Return: $2,007.40 [win selections only]
