Hot Team, Hot Filly

Today's Belmont feature is an 11-furlong optional/allowances for turf fillies going 11 furlongs. The hot Christophe Clement saddles an uncoupled pair and the more interesting of the two is he imported Desiree Clary (2-1).

She's making her 4YO debut and first start for Clement with Lasix and, frankly, if there is any forward development on maturity, she is supposed to handle these runners at the trip. Joel Rosario, forming a good team with Clement, takes the call.

We're taking Desiree Clary to win, no price restrictions, and key boxing exactas with Bishops Pond (8-1), going first time for Jason Servis, and the in-form Queen's Parade (5-2) stretching back out to her most effective trip for Shug.

Number of Selections since 2007: 2067

Number of Win and Place Finishes: 619-403

Amount Wagered: $4,134.00 [$2 to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $4,220.80

Profit to Date: $86.80

Happy 4th in the First State (and the other 49, too)

No handicapping involved this 4th of July but here are my trip notes for the 7th at Delaware, a maiden event on turf at 7-1/2 furlongs that has drawn lots of high profile New York trainers.

Private Client (7-2), "tough trip, virtually eliminated, came flying 4-5 wide at finish; excellent education."

(We generally give our Horses to Watch three runs to win and remove them from list following a win).

Betting Private Client to win, no price restrictions.
