Bow Tie to Black Tie?

Today's turf feature at Gulfstream Park is vexing. Logical horses appear easy enough to find but their form seems dubious for various reasons.

In this case we will err on the side of versatility as Bow Tie Affair (6-1) can stalk from close range or comes from the clouds. With a dearth of reliable speed, the former seems the more logical of the two.

Taking Bow Tie Affair to win, no price restrictions, and key-boxing exactas with hard hitting old pro Padilla (5-2) and Prince Vincenzo (3-1), meeting weaker and getting a switch to Paco.

Dancing to the Tampa Beat

The way the Tampa turf course has been playing recently it has favored off the pace types more than it had earlier in the stand. And that's going to make Irish Major (5-2) very hard to stop no matter how the early pace plays out.

Young gelding has come into his own early this season after shipping to Oldsmar and teaming up with Centeno. In his most recent, he rallied from last out 10 between horses in the lane and was beaten a little more than a length. He's actually versatile enough to take advantage of any scenario.

Taking Irish Major to win, no price restrictions, and key-boxing exactas with Sandy Whirlwind (6-1) and Red Zone (7-2).

JP Bets, Too

Today's Gulf feature only drew six entrants but what an interesting race--for three-year-olds which never have won a stakes.

The listed event draws a very fast Pletcher trainee--surprise, surprise, a winner of his only start last July at Monmouth Park, a key event that produced three next out winners.

Third Day (2-1) is a deserving early line favorite.

The same can be said for Basha (5-2) who won his first two starts before running into undefeated Fact Finding, who dusted him by 7 but now returns favorable spotted with blinkers off for the very live Gilberto Zerpa.

We're going for the price on Barry Karafin Bets (9-2) who lines up for Steve Dowskin and Luis Saez. The dynamics point to a good trip, sitting in behind the speed until Saez asks the question. He's also a two-time winner and is the most experienced of the major contenders.

Taking Barry Karafin Bets to win at 4-1 or greater and key-boxing exactas with the rivals named above.

Number of Selections since 2007: 2234
