Farro Turfer Should Dominate Parx Feature

The feature race from Parx Racing, today's eighth, is a preliminary allowances on the turf and it's difficult to pace the favorite in this heat. Noreen (5-2) was used on the pace vs. much tougher last time out at Belmont but now ships into Bensalem for the Farro/Ortega team, 22% this year and the barn a profitable 24% effective second time off the claim.

Dam’s only foal was a turf winner and the tactical speedster should make amends quickly in a very logical spot.

Taking Noreen to win, no price restrictions.

Tiz Nobler to Take a Price Shot in the Foster

The biggest feature race of the day takes place at night at Churchill Downs, the storied Grade 1 Stephen Foster. And while strong cases can be made for three of the entrants in this small field, even the favorites should be bettable at post time odds. Alas, we shall see.

Of Commissioner (3-1), Lea (7-5) and Noble Bird (10-1), Lea appears the most probable winner, but the play is Noble Bird at early line odds.

Commissioner, coming off a lifetime best, turns back to 9 furlongs off consecutive trips at 1-3/16 miles. Yes, it's only a mini-turnback and, yes, he runs quickly early from the pole position but tonight's setup is a different enough that we're looking elsewhere. Lea raced well in Dubai, has been given 77 days to freshen, has won at CD and is the fastest horse on performance figures.

As for Noble Bird, he comes off a huge lifetime top making him susceptible to the bounce. But 6 weeks can be sufficient time to recover, that win came in a G2 prep over the track, he gets four pounds from each of his main rivals and his early odds are way too tempting an overlay.

Taking Noble Bird at 5-1 or greater, an exacta box with Lea, and adding Commissioner and Hoppertunity to the super-exotics mix.

Value to Be Found in Belmont Turf Feature

Interesting turf sprint, today's featured 8th at Belmont Park. Given his last and incrementally improving TG figures, the 8-1 offered on Artie Crasher is generous, especially as well as this outfit has been going of late.

He beat virtually the same type last time, albeit under different conditions, handled 124 pounds successfully and fits the race shape nicely here, especially with contested speed breaking toward the inside.

Taking Artie Crasher to win at 4-1 or greater and making an exacta box with Heat Flash (4-1) off the Joe Sharp claim, a profitable scenario, and picks up talented apprentice Cancel.
