Outside Runner Has Inside Track to GP Circle

A look at all the elements on today’s Performance Ratings is pretty straight-forward: Power Alert, breaking from the outside slip in the 5F turf sprint, is a layover and a win bet at any price, given a 7-point rating edge over its closest competitor, Stormy Rush.

Amelia’s Wild Ride and Bold Thunder are clustered immediately below. The play is Power Alert to win and keying the gelding 1-2 in exactas and all super-exotics with his three rivals here, adding Mongolian Saturday on the third and fourth lines in the super-exotics. Australian sprinters are esteemed worldwide; we'll find out more here

Friday’s Featured Ninth at Gulf as Open as It Gets

The quintessential open race, with Catfight Cowgirl, Presto Magic and Asia owning our top performance ratings--separated by a mere point on the Energy Rating scale, with the next cluster of contenders; Hangover Saturday, Katie's Kiss and Knox County Zip also separated by a point--'Knox County' only two points below the top trio.

This looks like an excellent opportunity to take money out of this race; alas we shall see.

If the early line is a guide, which it always is, Catfight Cowgirl (10-1) is a moderate win play and a ‘must use’ in all exotics and super-exotics. Because it’s that open, require 8-1 or greater.

As for the top figure 'Presto', 3-1 would be fair win odds as a potential win play. As always, the late tote quote will tell the tale.

We're making a 2, 5, 7 exacta box; then using 1, 3, 6 beneath to complete the super-exotics for third and fourth.

For the FRA record, we're taking Catfight Cowgirl to win.

Hellenistic Tops Thursday Turf Feature at Gulfstream

If early-line odds ratios hold, there’s excellent value to be had in this turf two-turner. Hellenistic (9-2) is a layover by any measure, a likely and worthy favorite; 2-1 would be fair odds for a win play. Same can be said for our 2nd fave, Run of the River, at half the 6-1 early-win quote. Tote decides which one. Keying both on top two lines with Magic of Reality (5-2) and longer of the uncoupled Clement duo, Courtesan (10-1), in exactas and super-exotics. Adding underlay Bikini Baby 3rd and 4th spots in super-exotics.

For the record, taking Hellenistic to win, no price restrictions.

Number of Selections since 2008: 1703

Number of Win and Place Finishes: 511-330

Amount Wagered: $3,406 [to win only]

Total Dollar Return on Investment: $3,509.40

Profit to Date: $103.40 {Wednesday results not included}
