Cary Fotias's 'No Limit Handicapping'
In an effort to better serve HRI readers, and not limit Cary Fotias to the California circuit exclusively, Cary will be posting his value plays at whatever track he deems suitable. So be sure to check out his “No Limit Handicapping” column daily.
Cary has been posting his selections at HorseRaceInsider on a semi-weekly basis since 2007. Author and professional horseplayer, a look at his running totals are simply among the most unusual ever for a handicapper posting selections in advance in the public arena.
His cumulative running totals of (44) 15-3-5 as of July, 2009--for a total dollar return of $204.70 based on win selections only--yielded an otherworldly 231% return on investment. This is not the kind of impossible claim you often will see from other handicappers.
Cary's selections and results are easily verifiable, archived on the HRI site for your verification. HRI is very proud to have Cary Fotias as its handicapper in residence.

Pick -4 Value Plays
The Arlington Million and supporting stakes, the Secretariat and Beverly D highlight today's racing agenda. But, as usual, we will be looking to make a score on the Eliis Park 4% late Pick-4.
In the first leg, Top This Ruby looks to be the inside speed (always a plus at this oval) and is a generous 6/1 on the ML.
In the ninth, I am using a double key as both Big Blue Slew ( Turf Decline Line) and Steds Pirate (New Pace Top) are on nice Equiform pattern lines.
In the tenth, I'll key against defending champ Junior College and go with Istan
off a New Pace Top on top.
Jim's Prize is a good value key (10/1 ML) in the finale. He has run well over the Ellis weeds in the past and the drop in class might get the job done
NO LIMIT PICKS -
2 / 5, 6, 10
2, 3 / 4, 5, 6, 7
7 / 3, 5, 11
6 / 2, 7, 8

Lets Claim Some Money
Ellis Park hosts the Claiming Crown today so the 4% PICK-4 Pool should be bulging with uninformed money. As usual, I will list my key horses in each leg along with secondary horses after the slash (/).
RACE 09 2/ 3,14
RACE 10 4/3,7,8,10
RACE 11 10/ 1,2,4,5,7
RACE 12 2/ 1,3,4,5,11
Remember, you can play this bet for 50 cents at most simulcast outlets.
Have fun, and lets bring em all home safely.

Let’s Cover and Clear the Bases at Ellis Park
Another Saturday, another try at the Ellis Park 4% Pick-4. This bet has really taken off, with Pick-4 pools bigger than any tracks except Del Mar and Saratoga. Get in there and mix it up. Show the industry that low takeouts do matter to serious players. Let's take a look at today's four-race skull-buster.
RACE 8 -- These 5-1/2 furlong grass sprints are always a challenge, but NOOTKA ISLAND will be my key. He ran two decent races going longer at CD and Holthus is a nifty 3/6 at the current meet. BACK UP KIM has a very good turf pedigree, being by the Honour and Glory sire Put It Back. FOREBEARER also has good grass breeding and comes off a best of 56 work at CD.
RACE 9 -- Wouldn't surprise me if any of the nine entrants won this 6-1/2 MSW. TIZ A MAN won the ELP Juvenile as a 2-yo and goes second off the long layoff for Vickie Foley. LA BALA continues to improve for Mr Asmussen. PAPAL is 0/15, but is coming off a New Pace Top (NPT) and could surprise.
RACE 10 --The Audobon Oaks on the weeds at 1-1/16 miles is a very competitive affair. On raw power, AIDAN'S BELLA and BAVARIAN BELLE look best, but my top choice is ALICE BELLE who is four-for-six on the grass and shows a very nice finishing spread in her last effort.
RACE 11 -- This one is a mile out of the unique ELP chute on the clubhouse turn (Saratoga tried that for a year many moons ago). Inside posts and early speed are big edges at this distance and, as there are no dedicated front-runners in this bunch, we'll go with CLASSIC BEECH, ROAD TOWN, BOGEY FREE, DANCIN" DENNIS and OBLAT and IRON DRAGON.
