Cary Fotias's 'No Limit Handicapping'
In an effort to better serve HRI readers, and not limit Cary Fotias to the California circuit exclusively, Cary will be posting his value plays at whatever track he deems suitable. So be sure to check out his “No Limit Handicapping” column daily.
Cary has been posting his selections at HorseRaceInsider on a semi-weekly basis since 2007. Author and professional horseplayer, a look at his running totals are simply among the most unusual ever for a handicapper posting selections in advance in the public arena.
His cumulative running totals of (44) 15-3-5 as of July, 2009--for a total dollar return of $204.70 based on win selections only--yielded an otherworldly 231% return on investment. This is not the kind of impossible claim you often will see from other handicappers.
Cary's selections and results are easily verifiable, archived on the HRI site for your verification. HRI is very proud to have Cary Fotias as its handicapper in residence.

Lets Go for the GOLD!!
Theres a plethora of good value plays on todays Hollywood Gold Cup card. Rather than focus on just one race, Im going to give you plays in five races. Each play should provide an opportunity for a nice score. I will list the horses with their program numbers and morning lines, but be sure to check the official track program..
Race 2 #8 Tractons Golden (15/1)
Race 6 #4 Consigner (8/1)
#6 Areutrue (8/1)
Race 5 #7 Fast and Furious (12/1)
Race 7 #6 Elocution (2/1) good single in P-3, P-4, and P-6
Race 10 # 7 A P Arrow (6/1)
Use with #5 Molengao (5/2) and #8 Lava Man (7/5)
All of these key horses are on good EQUIFORM Pattern Lines and should perform well.
Bet them to win and/or use them with other horses you fancy in the gimmicks..

Double Your Pleasure at Hollywood Park
Saturday's 6th and 7th races at Hollywood offer up a nice one - two punch for EQUIFORM pattern players. Both Careless Candidate (6th) and Sinners N Saints (7th) are coming off new pace tops, which is a very powerful angle. A new pace top occurs when a horse runs the fastest 4-furlong dirt pace number of its career. Our studies show that horses often make a big forward move on their final numbers after running a new pace top.
Careless Candidate and Sinners N Saints are also getting a break in the weights with the hot apprentice rider Joe Talamo up on both horses. The new pace tops coupled with the weight breaks should lead to improved final numbers for both horses. Both are worth win bets at the right price and should be played in the double. They also are good key horses in the Pick-3 and late Pick-4. These are the kinds of situations a handicapper should be looking for. ANGLES that you can really feel confident about.
No Limit Plays --
Win Bets HOL 6th (10) Careless Candidate 5-2 or better
HOL 7th (1) Sinners N Saints 4-1 or better
Doubles: (races 6 & 7)
4,6,10/1 and 10/1,2,5
If both the 10 & 1 win you will cash the double twice.

Round and Round We Go
Saturdays feature at Hollywood Park, the Round Table, will be the first race run at 1-3/4 miles in fifteen years at the Inglewood oval. Nine runners will contest this grass event and my nod goes to Runaway Dancer. Although he hasnt won in two years, this eight-year old has run his best Equiform numbers at marathon distances. He gets the services of Alex Solis and, as he will likely be the betting choice, I will forego a win bet and use him up first and second in exactas and trifectas with Running Free, Storming Away and Spring House.
The finale is a maiden claimer, and I think Almost a Ten (12-1) and Ruthies Girl (8-1) respectively on the morning line have nice chances at a price. I will play doubles with the four horses from the feature to these two, pressing with Runaway Dancer.
Should I miss in the eighth race, I will look to bet Almost a Ten and/or Ruthies Girl in the ninth race.
Prediction - If anyone finishes under par at Oakmont in the US Open, we will get a Triple Crown winner in 2008.
