Alan Garcia, winning jockey aboard Nefertini (No. 2): “I was very close to the speed. [Trainer Alan Goldberg] said to put her right in the game. [Willet] came to me, and [Nefertini] was fighting and didn’t want to get beat.”

Rajiv Maragh, jockey aboard runner-up Willet (No. 1): “She tried hard. It was a good horse race at the top of the lane. I think the mile got her at the end. By the sixteenth pole, she was at the end of her rope. It wasn’t for lack of effort. The effort was good.”
