Uncle Mo Overnight Stakes Quotes

Michael McCarthy, assistant trainer to winning trainer Todd Pletcher, of Caixa Eletronica (No. 1): “It was good to get a race into him. It looked as if he finished up strong and galloped out well. Hopefully this will set him up well for another run at the Charles Town Classic [Grade 2, $1.5 million, April 20].”

Javier Castellano, winning jockey aboard Caixa Eletronica (No. 1): “He’s a pro horse, a very straightforward horse. He’s a smart, old horse; he knows what he’s doing. I was on the best horse in the race. I had to use him a little coming out of the gate, and when you push him he puts you in a good spot. I handicapped the race and there was not a lot of speed. I didn’t think the other horses were fast enough to hook up with him. He’s been running with the best horses in the country, and I think today was a good prep for the big races.”

Mike Repole, winning owner of Caixa Eletronica (No. 1): “If I wasn’t in Ocala trying to find the next Uncle Mo or Caixa Eletronica, I definitely would have been at Aqueduct today. There is a nice contrast between those two horses. Owning a horse like Uncle Mo was special and having a race named for him was great. To win the race with a fan favorite like Caixa Eletronica was also great. Uncle Mo was the best and favorite horse I’ve owned, but Caixa Eletronica has been the funnest horse I’ve owned.”

“This was Caixa Eletronica’s first race an 8-year-old, and he seems to get better and better every year. Hopefully, this sets him up for a fun and safe year.”
