NYRA Names Eric Wing Director of Communications & Media Relations
OZONE PARK, N.Y. – The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has named Eric Wing Director of Communications & Media Relations. Wing, who has served as Senior Director of Media Relations at the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) since 1999, will oversee corporate communications and serve as company spokesperson for NYRA beginning May 15.
At the NTRA, Wing devised and implemented public relations strategies for thoroughbred racing’s national trade organization, provided media assistance to NTRA-member tracks, and consulted with sports and mainstream outlets to facilitate and maximize coverage of thoroughbred racing.
“We sincerely thank Eric for his many contributions to the NTRA and the industry over the last 14 years. We wish him the best and look forward to working with him in the years to come as he assumes new responsibilities with NYRA,” said Alex Waldrop, President and CEO of the NTRA.
Prior to joining the NTRA, Wing worked as Senior Staff Editor at Reader’s Digest, the world’s largest circulation magazine. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College.
“I am proud to have the opportunity to work for The New York Racing Association – an organization I have admired ever since I fell in love with thoroughbred racing more than 30 years ago,” Wing said. “I am deeply grateful to the NTRA for 14 wonderful years, and also to NYRA for the confidence they are expressing in me going forward.”
