CHURCHILL DOWNS’ ‘DERBYME’ SOCIAL MEDIA APP

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Wednesday, May 1, 2013) - The 139th running of the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands is set for Saturday, May 4, but you won't have to be at Churchill Downs Racetrack to enjoy the unmatched, sizzle and excitement of the Derby celebration.

Users can enhance their on-track experience or savor the "Run for the Roses" from afar by downloading Churchill Downs' new DerbyMe, the official social media app of America's greatest race.

The free app, which is available for iPhones, allows Derby fans to share and participate in all aspects of the celebration of one of the world's top sports and entertainment events via the app and Twitter by providing curated Twitter collections and the ability to filter the conversations to the user's preferences. Users can see what experts, insiders and fans alike are saying about various topics related to the Kentucky Derby and also join in on the conversation by including #KyDerby in their tweets.

DerbyMe takes its users through exciting Derby Fashion - from amazing color-splashed hats to crisp seersucker suits to fascinators - and it offers a glimpse into the world of the Derby's Horses through the tweets of racing professionals, celebrities, fans and journalists. Some Kentucky Derby horses have their own Twitter pages!

The app allows photos of the Kentucky Derby experience to be shared through the DerbyMe Gallery, but the most popular and fun feature of this amazing app is likely to be #DerbyMe, which inserts the smiling faces of individual fans into all parts of the amazing Kentucky Derby experience.

A simple tap on your smartphone screen and the swipe of a finger allows the user to become a jockey, be outfitted in a festive Derby hat and dress, look incredibly dapper in a Derby sport coat and hat, or to don the official bugler's red coat and place their lips to the instrument's mouthpiece to sound the "Call to the Post."

Images created in #DerbyMe can be easily saved and then shared with users of the official Kentucky Derby social media app around the world. Fans can also keep up with all of the Kentucky Derby action, including behind-the-scenes, race updates, fashion, celebrities, and more, by following the official Kentucky Derby account on Facebook (facebook.com/kentuckyderby), Twitter (@KentuckyDerby), Instagram (@kentuckyderby) and Pinterest (pinterest.com/kentuckyderby). Fans are encouraged to share photos of their experience while on-track at Churchill Downs or from Derby parties around the world. They can also join in on the conversation by using the official #KyDerby hashtag.
