Pimlico’s Mandatory Rainbow 6 Payout Saturday

$275,321 Carryover
Pool Could Climb to $1 Million on Belmont Stakes Day

BALTIMORE - The Preakness Meet at Pimlico Race Course ends Saturday afternoon with a bonus – a mandatory payout of its 10-cent Rainbow 6 with a carryover of $275,321.

Saturday’s closing day at Pimlico will also include a Belmont Stakes watch party as Preakness winner American Pharoah attempts to become the first Triple Crown winner in 37 years. There will be drink and food specials as well as American Pharoah and Triple Crown merchandise at Pimlico as well as Laurel Park.

First race post time Saturday is 12:45 p.m. Gates open at Pimlico and Laurel at 10:45 a.m.

Multiple winning tickets with all six winners Friday returned $5,468.37. There was one single ticket on the 90-1 longshot Proud N Tall, but the 5-year-old gelding was never a factor.

There will also be a Pick 5 carryover of $3,805. Like the Rainbow 6, the Pick 5 will also have a mandatory payout.

A bettor doesn’t necessarily have to have a ticket with all six winners to grab a share of the mandatory carryover pool. All bettors holding tickets with the most winners in the six-race sequence will share in the entire pool that day.

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is paid out only when there is a single ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 60-percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 40-percent is carried over to the next racing day’s jackpot pool. The bet has produced payoffs as high as $6.6 million.
