Victory Ride (G3) Quotes

Pat Reynolds, winning trainer of Baby J (No. 4): “She came off the bench, had about six months off, and ran in the slop pretty good. We caught an older horse in her last race, and [Baby J] ran a flat third. [Owner Paul Pompa, Jr.] called me [about the Victory Ride], and asked ‘Can we do it?’ So I played around with her, and the angles paid off. She’s very game. She’s a free-running type of filly, and it worked out. We’re going to kick around [running in the Grade 1 Test on August 24 at Saratoga]. She’ll probably need a little time off, but she’ll be tough on a speed track up there wherever we elect to go with her.”

Joel Rosario, winning jockey aboard Baby J (No. 4): “She came back [after Bridgehampton passed her in the stretch]. In my head, I thought she would maybe come back, so I kept her busy and rode her. The other day [when third in an optional claimer on June 14] we took her back and it looked like she was not as game. But today, after that horse came over a little on me, I put her on the outside and she came back again. It was impressive.”
